Treating antenatal depression could prevent off-spring adult depression according to latest research - Source Mental Elf 20/12/13

Emerging evidence is questioning the near-exclusive focus on PND and offspring depression; antenatal depression (AND) has been associated with independent risks for child development and a key question asks whether the mechanisms for the transmission of risk from mother to fetus differ from those related to maternal depression during the child’s life.

New Cochrane review finds weak evidence that drug combinations are more effective than monotherapy in psychotic depression

As psychotic depression is usually associated with worse treatment outcome, its successful management needs stringent guidelines.
