Health and Social Care Conference 2013 21st March 2013

Health and Social Care Conference 2013 21st March 2013

Overview

The health service is currently undergoing an unprecedented period of transition following from the passing of the Health and Social Care Act in March 2012. As part of this Act, the NHS has changed its commissioning procedures, with frontline practitioners now charged with procuring patient services. Furthermore, a new NHS Commissioning Board has been setup, and will start its work from October 2012 to authorise and run Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) from April 2013.
With these, and many other reforms, including the changing nature of regulation in the health service, care and support in social care and an increased role for local government in healthcare, GovKnow are proud to present our 3rd Annual Health and Social Care Conference 2013. This annual conference will bring together over 200 key stakeholders working within and alongside the health service to discuss and debate the best way forward following on from the health reforms passed earlier this year. Please click here to see highlights of our last Health and Social Care Conference in March this year.

Student Feedback 2012 – Library Response
Each year students are asked to complete a feedback form about their experiences of being on a course at the Tavistock. The library has a section in this survey and this report outlines the key results of the survey and any actions that the library feels it necessary to take in order to improve the student experience.  We have made links to the resources so that you can see what we are referring to.

Facebook

The library is setting up a Facebook Page which should be in use in a week or so.  We have been unsure as to whether to do this or not as we aren't sure how many of our users communicate on Facebook. But we thought we would give it a go and see if people use it.
Let us know your thoughts on this........

A better future for mental health care: acceptance, choice and dignity | The King's Fund

"So it is time to think differently. As an ambassador for the Time to Change mental health awareness campaign I am all in favour of that. I'm all in favour too of echoing the theme of Christina Patterson's recent piece about shifting power back to patients, but that is a tricky issue when you are talking about people in a mental health crisis." Advising The Kings Fund

The Library was visited today by some librarians from the Kings Fund wanting to talk to us about how we set up Tavistock and  Portman E-prints Online. They had demonstrated it to their management group who were very impressed by it.

This is a repository that collects together the work of our clinical and academic staff and allows them to make their work freely available over the web via a searchable "open access" database. Why not have a look at it now.
